Doug Brooks is a life-long barbershopper with over 25 years experience in quartet singing. He sang with Four District Champion Quartets (Cadence - 2003, Four Star Revue - 1988, Four From Home - 1993, Renaissance - 1995). Doug has also sung for many years in a quartet includes his three brothers and is appropriately named "Brooks Brothers" (what else?). He competed four times at International finishing as high as 18th.

In addition to his quartet work and his job as Director of the Sounds of Harmony, Doug sings lead with the World Champion Ambassadors of Harmony from St. Charles, Missouri.

Doug lives in St. Louis with wife Pat and his two stepsons, Thomas and Cameron, and works as an Information Technology project manager for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Collinsville, Illinois.

Doug served as Director of the Land of Lincoln Chorus in Springfield, Illinois from 1986 to 1995 before taking a break from directing. We are delighted to have him as the Director of the Sounds of Harmony and thank his wife, Pat, for convincing him to rejoin the directors' ranks.

Assistant Director

Hal Maples was involved in barbershopping for over 20 years with experience in chorus and quartet singing. He sang in an Illinois District championship quartet, the Federal Reserve Notes; he served as bass section leader for the Ambassadors of Harmony for 8 years; spent two years as a candidate music judge; and was an arranger of a cappella vocal music.

Hal lived in St. Peters with wife, Connie, and had two daughters and 5 grandchildren.

He loved the craft of ensemble singing, and was a coach for singers and quartets.

Sadly, Hal passed away on December 30, 2015. We will miss this leader, singer and friend.
